MCA (5 Years)
Objective:
The Master of Computer Applications is a five year program offered by the International Institute of Professional Studies (IIPS), Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. This is a multidisciplinary and industry-oriented programme designed to develop competent computing professionals, Who can address the challenges of the evolving digital world. The programme provides foundational strong theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies through a single integrated programme.
Spanning five years (ten semesters), the curriculum offers a balanced blend of core computing fundamentals and emerging technologies. Students build a strong foundation in:
- Computing Foundations : Programming, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Data Structures
- Computer Systems : Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Computer Networks
- Data and Information Management: Database Management Systems, Data Mining, Data Science
- Software Engineering and Design : Software Engineering, Object-Oriented Analysis &

- Intelligent Computing: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Soft Computing, Large Language Model (LLM)-Based Systems & Generative AI
- Secure and Distributed Computing : Information Security, Cloud Computing, Blockchain Technology
- Emerging and Pervasive Computing : Internet of Things (IoT), Mobile Computing, Enterprise Computing, Quantum Computing
- Interactive and Multimedia Technologies : Multimedia Systems
The curriculum is complemented by extensive laboratory work, software development projects, Internship programs and an industry project that promotes experiential learning and real-world problem solving.
The programme equips students with analytical thinking, innovation, research aptitude, and professional ethics while nurturing effective communication, teamwork, leadership, and entrepreneurial competencies.
The Department offers multiple academic pathways, including the BCA (3-Year) programme, the BCA (Honours) (4-Year) programme, and the Integrated MCA (5-Year) programme, catering to students with diverse academic aspirations and career goals. The curricula are designed in accordance with contemporary educational frameworks and industry requirements, providing flexibility for multidisciplinary learning, skill enhancement, and research orientation.
Graduates are well prepared for careers in software development, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, data analytics, enterprise solutions, IT consulting, research, and technology entrepreneurship, as well as for higher education and advanced research in Computer Science and allied disciplines.
